Working in Transit NXT: Final Checks
Did you know that completing all the Final Checks in Transit can save you a lot of time?
The format and variant checks are a powerful Quality Assurance (QA) feature to pick up on all the tiny details that you might miss when doing your final read-through. This means that you can concentrate on revising your translation, without worrying about missing tags, double full stops, or capitalisation.
You can find full instructions on how to complete all the final checks in our manual SOP-11 Working with STAR Dublin on the supplier portal (page 79), but here is a checklist for you to follow before delivering your work:
1. Have you completed a spelling and grammar check?
2. Is all the terminology accurate?
3. Have you run the format check? You must correct all errors found by Transit and there should be no missing markups or empty segments
4. Have you run the variant check? Make sure you fix all variants as necessary and only ignore them if there is a valid reason for the variant
5. Have you run STAR’s Regex search for your language (where applicable)?
Transit Tips:
- Make sure you have translated and confirmed all segments in the project: place your cursor at the beginning of the project and press Ctrl + + (numeric keypad). This will take you to any segment not marked as “Translated” (or a higher status).
- Use the File Navigation window to see all detected errors by type or by file: errors are marked in bold and you expand/contract the list to find them. Double clicking on the error takes you to the relevant segment
- Right click on errors to Ignore them. Do not click on “Remove error(s) from the list” as this will “reset” them and they will be listed as unresolved errors when the checks are run again.
