Privacy Policy
We recognise the importance of your privacy. It’s understandable that you may be concerned with the information you provide to us or that is collected by us and how we use it. With these concerns in mind, we’ve developed the Privacy Policy outlined below. We may update this Policy from time to time, so please check back occasionally.
If you have any questions about our Privacy Policy, you can contact us.
Acceptance of Privacy Policy
By using the STAR site and services, you signify acceptance of this privacy statement.
We reserve the right to modify this privacy statement at any time. Your continued use of any portion of the STAR site following notification or posting of such changes will constitute your acceptance of those changes.
Information Use
STAR will use reasonable efforts to prevent the disclosure or use of your personal information. We will not sell, share or rent your information in any way different to what is disclosed in this statement. STAR may collect information from you at several different points on our web site.
I. Registration
During registration you are required to give contact information (such as your name and/or email address). This information is used to provide the services that you have requested, or to contact you about the service on our site in which you have expressed interest. We may contact you from time to time with news as well as marketing and promotional information. We may also use the information to provide you with information we believe may be useful to you.
II. Cookies
Like most web sites, we use cookie technology on our web site. A cookie is a small text file containing a unique identification number that is transferred from a web site to the hard drive of your computer so that the site administrator may identify your computer and passively track its activities on the web site. This unique number identifies your web browser to our computer system whenever you visit our site. We may place a cookie in the browser file of your computer, however it does not contain any personally identifying information about you. The cookie does not track your personal information or provide us with any way to contact you, and does not extract any information from your computer. We use the cookie to provide functional information about your browser, allowing us to provide you with a better experience. We also use cookies to gather broad demographic information and general usage patterns about you and other users of our sites.
If your browser rejects cookies, you may still use our site. The only drawback to this is that you may be limited from accessing certain areas of our site.
Some of our business partners may also use cookies on our site.
III. Web Beacons
Also known as clear GIFs or single-pixel GIFs, web beacons are small image files that STAR may place on web pages and within web-based email newsletters that we send. Working in conjunction with cookies, web beacons allow STAR TS to accurately count the number of unique users who have visited a specific page on the STAR site and the number of times those pages are displayed. We can also use web beacons to let us know how many people opened a web-based email newsletter. This information is only collected in aggregate form and will not be linked to your personally identifiable information.
IV. Log Files
We use server log data to help administer the site, to better understand the parts of the site and what types of content are most interesting to our site users, and to measure volumes of traffic. Each time a STAR page is requested from your browser, we log your computer’s IP address into our log files.
