Translation Vendor & Quality Manager

(Freelance, Remote)

STAR is seeking a remote freelance translation Vendor & Quality Manager to join our global team.

  • Job Type: Freelance, part time
  • Schedule: 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday – with flexible working hours
  • Pay: €650 per month, invoiced monthly
  • Location: Remote but in a European time zone

The Position: You will ensure STAR has the right people to deliver world-class translations on time and within budget. Working closely with our Sales and Production teams, you will scout, vet, and manage our international supplier network.

Key Responsibilities

Vendor Management

  • Recruit and train resources to meet clients’ needs.
  • Keep the vendor database records up to date with the latest quality and performance scores.
  • Monitor vendors’ availability, cost and quality performance.
  • Relationship management with existing vendors, mentoring and ongoing support.
  • Compile and distribute weekly reports on supplier recruitment and supplier performance.
  • Rate negotiations – ongoing.
  • Assist the Finance Team with invoices.

Quality Management

  • Maintain data on quality and vendor performance.
  • Produce quality reports visible to the Vendors and Production Team.
  • Analyse quality issues and determine further actions through Root Cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Resident in the EU and registered as a freelancer.
  • Multilingual professional with a Translation Degree at BA or Masters level.
  • Native language speaker of any EU language. We would particularly welcome applications from native speakers of Italian, German, or Polish who are based in Italy, Germany, or Poland. Please note that we are not currently seeking applications for Spanish, Portuguese, French, or English language roles, as we already have strong in-house expertise in these areas. We are especially interested in strengthening our capabilities in other European markets.
  • Excellent written and spoken English is required, along with strong communication skills.
  • CAT-tool Knowledge.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, negotiate and prioritise.
  • A strong quality focus is expected.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Excellent command of standard Office tools such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
