AGIS ‘09 & the Rosetta Foundation Support LRC XIV

The Rosetta Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation providing a technology platform for volunteer translators and their not-for-profit clients. The Rosetta Foundation was established in 2009 and will be launched at AGIS ‘09 taking place in Limerick, Ireland on 21-25 September.

AGIS, Action for Global Information Sharing, will provide an opportunity for volunteer translators, their clients and technology gurus providing support to come together to learn, network and celebrate their work.

Localisation in the Cloud

The 14th Internationalisation and Localisation Conference organised by the LRC, will take place on 24-25 September 2009 at the Clarion Hotel, in Limerick City, Ireland.

The theme of this year’s conference is Localisation in The Cloud and the conference aims to look at the application of cloud based computing and software as a service concepts to the software localisation industry.

Sessions will examine the tasks involved in involved in making customised and configurable localisation services and projects available over the internet. They will look at existing industry web-based localisation solutions and options, how the web can help with tools deployment and workflow management, and to what extent existing tools solutions can be integrated in ‘in the cloud’ solutions.

The conference will also provide a forum for discussions on engaging customers, service providers, tools developers and the user community in the cloud.

Who should attend?

LRC conferences are aimed at researchers, teachers, trainers, managers, engineers, translators and internationalisation specialists working in localisation. They are also aimed at businesses, governments, and international development agencies that would like to find out how internationalisation and localisation can help their endeavours.

The Localisation Research Centre (LRC)

The Localisation Research Centre (LRC) provides a comprehensive information service to the localisation industry; conducts research and development in localisation and related areas, such as language engineering; produces a range of publications including Localisation Focus – the International Journal of Localisation; and oversees a number of education and training programs.
