STAR Translation Newsletter | April 2012 | Building Brics

Building Brics

Our newsletter this month focuses on our core business of translation.

During Seachtain na Gaeilge we promoted our Irish translation services on social media like YouTube and Facebook. Meanwhile we are also focusing on expanding markets in the BRIC countries. STAR already has a BRIC presence supporting Brazil, Russia, India and China so we can share our knowledge on these expanding countries.  Finally we’ve been recognised for our quality and hard work by being nominated for 2 separate awards.

Doing Global Business in BRIC Countries

BRIC : Brazil, Russia, India and China are the hot topic of discussion in translation and export markets right now. According to the Goldman Sachs’ report, China and India will become the dominant global supplier for manufactured goods and services. Meanwhile, Brazil and Russia will become the dominant players for raw materials and energy.

STAR helps clients who do business in BRIC countries by providing translation services for Documents, Websites and Manuals. If you’re doing business in any BRIC country – STAR can assist you with your language requirements.

What is BRIC?

Published by Star Translation under Business

What is BRIC?

What is BRIC?

BRIC
BRIC is an acronym for the emerging countries Brazil, Russia, India and China. Most located on the east side of our ageing European continent those countries now represent a lot of growth opportunities for the global economy.

Where does BRIC come from?
People agreed that BRIC first appeared thanks to Jim O’Neil who had formerly written a paper entitled “Building Better Global Economic BRICs” in 2001. The acronym spread when Goldman Sachs published a report on 2003 “Dreaming with BRICs: The Path to 2050″. The report was a sort of prediction of our future global economy. In Goldman Sachs’ scenario, the BRICs are the heroes struggling to endorse global growth and that they would dominate the world by 2050. The report has been a good insight to the future as since publication many revelations reported in it were realized, even sooner than expected. I guess this is the reason why the first publication has been reviewed three times since its original publication (2004, 2007, and 2010).

Is BRIC the future of the world?
According to the Goldman Sachs’ report, China and India will become the dominant global supplier for manufactured goods and services. Meanwhile, Brazil and Russia will become the dominant one for raw materials and energy. When we focus on published data it is clear that BRIC will overtake the USA as the world’s biggest importer by 2014.

Enda Kenny’s Business Visit to China

Kenny starts four-day Business Visit to China

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny is on the last of his four-day visit to China. He is joining a trade mission involving 90 companies from Ireland. The purpose of Kenny’s current visit to China is to encourage economic and trade collaboration between Ireland and China.

Ireland has advantages which China can benefit from and China represents a vast market for Irish goods and services.

Irish companies are engaged in a continuous dynamic process of transformation centered on innovation and internationalization.

“Both Ireland and China have moved rapidly toward a knowledge-based economy built on innovation and technology, and our companies have all the elements for working more closely together.”, said Mr Kenny.

Irish culture is very popular in China and there is a great interest in Ireland among Chinese tour operators. There are also great links and possibilities in the education sector.

Mr Kenny’s visit follows the recent visit to Ireland of Xi Jinping, vice-president of China. Mr Xi said he was deeply impressed by his recent visit to Ireland and that he had many pleasant memories of the warm welcome he received in Ireland last month, reports RTE News/World.
